I had a great time in Philadelphia last night, reading with Anne Boyer, Shanna Compton, and Jennifer L. Knox. Thanks very much to Debrah Morkun and Kim Gek Lin Short for inviting me, and for the many Philly poets who came out!
This morning, Jeff and I woke up to a crisp, sunny day, and decided to use the hour and a half until our train to see the sights. We could either have taken a gander at the Liberty Bell or walked over to the Museum of Fine Arts. We chose the latter, and had a lovely stroll along Ben Franklin Parkway, saw the city from the museum steps (made famous in Rocky of course), and even got a few pics of Rocky himself, in statue form, at the bottom right of the museum steps.
We had an uneventful trip back to DC, and I am just about finished packing for my week of poeting in the south. It's sort of amazing how much I was able to cram into one carry-on bag! I will basically be prepared for every weather condition imaginable, as well as for any social occasion short of a black tie gala.
And so, a last plug for the tour before I go -- here's all the dates (including the final date in Kansas City, which I won't be at, but which will feature a host of amazing poets. I'm so sorry to miss it, but I have to cut things short so as to be able to show up to work on Monday the 14th!
